Arsenal is closer than ever to completing the signing of Ben White from Brighton, The Athletic report.
The English defender has been Arsenal’s priority target this week, with the Gunners tabling a £45m bid for the center-half.
However, Brighton pressing to receive £50m for the player.
Arsenal is determined to meet Seagulls valuation of the 23-year-old. Although the Gunners are only willing to pay £5m in add-ons.
Face-to-face meetings between Arsenal and Brighton have gone well. All that remains for Arsenal to announce White is an agreement regarding the transaction structure and add-ons.
White helped Brighton keep 12 clean sheets in his 36 appearances for the Seagulls last season. His heroics earned him a spot in England’s squad for the Euros.
“William is our player for sure, and that’s the decision we’re going to be taking soon. When we finish the season, we will sit down and discuss the roles of every member in our squad and how they can fulfill that role.
“He is our player, so he’ll be back here for sure. After that, we will make a decision based on an agreement of the role each player is going to have in our squad.”
Whether that still stands amid the White bid remains to be seen. Still, according to those reports, Saliba won’t be short of options, even if he is forced to go elsewhere for regular football next season.
